About Me
Transitioning from graphic design to web development, specialising in Laravel and PHP at Onward Travel Solutions, with each step shaping my evolving expertise.
I began my journey in design at the Commercial Arts Training College on the Gold Coast, Australia, where I acquired a strong foundation in graphic design and print-based concepts. This led me to transition into digital design, culminating in a Bachelor's Degree focused on digital practices, including web design, videography, 3D modelling, and app development, sparking my passion for web development and UX/UI design.
At 7th Vision, a Gold Coast web development agency, I served as a UI/UX designer, crafting pixel-perfect websites tailored to meet clients' business requirements. I collaborated closely with development teams, which introduced me to WordPress theme development and shaped the subsequent three years of my career.
Upon relocating to Wells, Somerset, I joined Europe's leading provider of environmentally friendly promotional goods as a web developer. Over 12 months, I overhauled their online presence, transitioning from outdated static websites to dynamic eCommerce sites, developing custom WordPress/WooCommerce themes and integrating these with existing internal systems.
Continuing my journey with the Ascot Group, I managed websites across the company portfolio, focusing on Business Leader and subsidiary national/regional awards sites. This role introduced me to Laravel, which I utilised to develop a web application with APIs for efficient award management and judging delegation.
I currently specialise in Laravel and PHP at Onward Travel Solutions, focusing on modernising legacy monolithic applications into microservices. My efforts have been instrumental in transforming our development practices, allowing us to adopt microservices best practices and improve the agility and reliability of our systems. Through collaborative decision-making and hands-on implementation, I contribute significantly to our journey towards a more scalable, resilient, and forward-thinking infrastructure.
